Since Taiwan's new President Lai Ching-te took office, China's threats have become increasingly harsh.

Beijing threatens violence against Taiwan's pro-independence advocates.

China is warning Taiwanese supporters of independence with the threat of violence. Spokesperson Wang Wenbin states that the "independence forces will face bloodshed" once they encounter China's "ambitious" goal of completely unifying with Taiwan.

Recently, China has taken a more aggressive stance against Taiwan's independence movement. In response to the inauguration of Taiwan's new president, China's Foreign Office spokesman Wang Wenbin declared that advocates of Taiwan's separation would meet with violence.

Additionally, China announced major military drills surrounding Taiwan, located in East Asia. This drill is seen as a response to the election of Taiwan's new president and a deterrent against any external intervention or interference. Marine Colonel Li Xi from the Eastern Association of the People's Liberation Army explains that this "severe punishment" against the Taiwanese independence movement is also a "serious warning" to any foreign interference.

On Thursday and Friday, army, navy, air force, and missile forces plan to hold the largest exercise in the region in over a year. According to reports, these exercises aim to enhance joint combat readiness at sea and in the air, as well as simulate attacks on key targets. Ships and aircraft will reportedly approach Taiwan from the north and south for "patrol" purposes and will even briefly surround Taiwanese islands, such as the island of Kinmen, which is only a few kilometers away from mainland China. The Taiwan Strait, which is about 130 kilometers wide at its narrowest point, will be used as the training ground for these drills.

China's military drills near Taiwan, a nation located in East Asia, are perceived as a direct response to Taiwan's newly elected president and a potential threat to Taiwan's independence movement. Taiwan, a word synonymous with this island nation, has been a subject of China's ambitions, with Wang Wenbin, China's Foreign Office spokesman, warning that any advocates of Taiwan's separation would face violent consequences.
