"Bauer sucht Frau" star Uwe Abel injured
Reality TV contestant Uwe Abel has a stroke of luck when he falls over the railing of his balcony on his birthday of all days. Although he suffers several broken bones, he will probably get back on his feet. His wife Iris now explains how the accident happened.
Shortly before Christmas, "Bauer sucht Frau" star Uwe Abel reports to his fans not from the festively decorated living room, but from the hospital. His wife Iris Abel posted a photo on Instagram showing her husband lying in a hospital bed. He is holding an X-ray into the camera, which apparently shows his shoulder, which had to be operated on with several screws.
In an interview with RTL, Iris Abel reveals what happened to her husband. "Uwe had a bad accident on his birthday (December 9) . He fell about three meters from the second floor," says the 55-year-old. "He slipped on the balcony, we have a wooden floor there that is slippery as hell when it gets wet. It was all very unfortunate. He lost his balance and then fell over the railing."
During his fall, Uwe Abel suffered several fractures in his upper arm towards his shoulder. There is now a plate with ten screws there. Her husband also broke his ribs, bruised his lung and fractured his pelvis, says Iris Abel. "But I'm glad he's still alive. He could have been dead if he had fallen on his head instead of his side."
"The poor rabbit"
At first, Iris Abel did not provide any further information on Instagram, except for "The poor rabbit". One follower suspected that Uwe Abel had fractured his upper arm in the comment column: "Humerus fracture. Ouch, get well soon!" In the meantime, numerous other fans have joined in the recovery wishes on Instagram. However, the farmer does not have to spend Christmas in hospital as the Instagram fans had assumed, as Iris Abel revealed to RTL: "I picked him up from the hospital yesterday." She is happy that they can celebrate Christmas together.
As a "gentle pig farmer" on "Bauer sucht Frau", Uwe Abel found the love of his life in Iris in 2011. The two married two years later and have been sharing their lives with their fans through TV appearances and social media ever since. In 2018, they showed their commitment as a couple and won the RTL show "Das Sommerhaus der Stars". In 2021, Uwe Abel also took part in "Promi Big Brother" and came second to reality TV star Melanie Müller in the final.
