"Can you take a joke?" - Barbara Schöneberger fulfills her wish

Barbara Schöneberger (49) invites you to the Christmas show of "Verstehen Sie Spaß? Under the motto "All I Want For Christmas Is Fun!", she will provide Christmas cheer on TV on December 16 (8:15 pm, Das Erste and ORF). For the show, the presenter has once again reached deep into her glitter box, because "I have no shortage of glittery clothes," she laughs in an interview with the news agency spot on news. She even changes outfits for her guest Florian Silbereisen (42), who is tricked by his duet partner Thomas Anders (60) into singing the new song "Alles funkelt! Alles glitzert!" is tricked.

What do you particularly like about the Christmas edition?

Barbara Schöneberger: For me, every show of "Verstehen Sie Spaß?" is actually like Christmas. I've noticed that people long to watch such an entertainment show because they say to themselves: "Well, now it's going to be nice and now I'm looking forward to it." There's always something Christmassy about everyone coming together and then singing. Then it has that golden glow and that was particularly special in this edition.

Will you be performing a Christmas serenade yourself on Saturday evening?

Schöneberger: Yes, of course! There will definitely be some singing, I can tell you that much. I've always wanted a big opening for "Verstehen Sie Spaß?". I always want to have something nice at the beginning, which you can't do in every show. And we fully realize that. It's a very funny song with which we present everything you can look forward to in this show on a silver platter. Everyone knows the song I'm singing, but the lyrics are new.

What outfit will people see you in on Saturday evening?

Schöneberger: It's silver! I even change in the show. So for the people who like my outfits, they can rejoice. Those who like to get upset about it can get upset twice. But for "Everything sparkles! Alles glitzert!" by Florian Silbereisen, which clearly has something to do with Florian's movie. I have no shortage of glittery clothes.

Is there a funny anecdote from the current Christmas show that has stuck in your mind?

Schöneberger: I love Jutta Speidel. I think this whole generation has great German actresses anyway. Whether it's Iris Berben, Jutta Speidel or Michaela May, they're all so great. And Jutta Speidel, she came to the show, sat down and said: "This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time." That's exactly how we want it to be.

Do you have a favorite fun film from 2023?

Schöneberger: I once tricked people in a painting class myself as painting teacher Conny. I thought that was great. It makes me a philanthropist myself when I act like that. Because it's so incredibly touching what people really go along with, what people put up with in a good way because they're not actually embarrassed or don't want to expose the person who's making a mistake. I think that's a wonderful quality.

In your latest fun movie, you become a sommelier: Did people go along with that?

Schöneberger: Of course, there are always people who are easier to move. It's usually women. I'm always happy when I see women sitting there. They are always random groups that are brought to you. And women are more fearless, they are more willing to be led along. And they are also curious. But I don't want to say that men aren't capable of being tricked. But it works even better with women.

How did you feel in this role?

Schöneberger: There was also the catch that I don't know anything about wine. But I know that it's a big, wide world. And nobody wants to have the nerve to say: "No, I don't like the leather sole" or the "cat pee"... They go: "Yes, yes, interesting" and of course look at each other the whole time, but they don't want to make a fool of themselves in front of an institution like Paula Bosch.

So you don't know anything about wine?

Schöneberger: I don't know anything about wine. I hosted the Wine Awards for several years with great enthusiasm and also thought that being a winemaker was the coolest job in the world. So really, I got to know the most amazing people. But I have to say that I don't actually drink wine. I prefer to drink gin and tonic.
