- Banksy's new work is stolen immediately
World-renowned street artist Banksy has confirmed four works in the British capital London this week. After a goat on Monday, two elephants on Tuesday, and three monkeys on Wednesday, the silhouette of a howling wolf at the moon followed today (August 8). However, after the artist confirmed his work in the afternoon on Instagram, it was gone shortly afterwards. Bold thieves struck in broad daylight.
Howling Wolf only admired for a few hours
Banksy's fourth new artwork in four days appeared on Rye Lane in Peckham, south London. The outline of a wolf was sprayed on a satellite dish attached to the roof of a single-story, seemingly empty store.
The British BBC shows a video of three unknown individuals removing the dish with a ladder and fleeing with the stolen goods. Banksy's press team told the BBC that they "believe" the image was stolen. The London police also confirmed that they were contacted about a "stolen satellite dish with artwork". No arrests have been made in the case so far.
Four artworks in four days
Since Monday, Banksy has confirmed a new series of works on Instagram. A post from August 5 shows a goat seemingly crouching on a house ledge. The wall is located in Richmond, west of London. On Tuesday, two elephants appeared, their trunks almost touching on a facade in the Chelsea district of London. On a railway bridge in Shoreditch, east London, the artist sprayed the silhouettes of three monkeys hanging from a rope, and confirmed the work on Instagram on August 7.
Who is behind Banksy is still unknown. The artist Robin Gunningham from Bristol is considered a candidate. Recently, an interview from 2003 has surfaced in which the then little-known Banksy gives his first name as "Robbie".
Stolen Artwork Investigation
The London police are currently investigating the theft of Banksy's howling wolf mural, which was displayed on a satellite dish in Peckham.
Suspect Interviews in the Case
The Commission has requested interviews with three individuals seen in the BBC's footage removing the satellite dish and fleeing with the artwork.
