Former boxing champion Axel Schulz isn't keeping his favoritism hidden for the Raab versus Halmich boxing match happening on Saturday night. And it's not the entertainer he's rooting for!
In her Instagram stories, Halmich shared a clip with Schulz directly addressing her. "Regina, my boxing queen. It's finally happening on the 14th. I hope you crack Stefan's nose, he deserves it," the 55-year-old stated, showing his support. Watching the fight from home, he plans to cheer her on. "I can't be there live, but I'll be front and center in front of the TV. Keep boxing," Schulz said. Halmich responded with "Thank you" and a heart emoji.
Saturday night will see Raab and Halmich face off for the third time. The "Clark Final Fight" at the PSD Bank Dome in Düsseldorf will be live on RTL and RTL+ starting at 8:15 PM. Halmich, having retired from professional boxing in 2007, has already bested Raab twice, in 2001 and 2007.
In an interview with RTL, the now 47-year-old Halmich expressed her hope to safeguard her own nose in the fight. When asked about the possibility of broken noses, she said, "I hope at least my nose remains intact, because I had it fixed post-career, after it was broken three times. In the first fight, I broke Stefan's nose, so we'll see what happens this time."
She mentioned having "no fear nor anxiety," but added, "You always step into the ring with a certain respect. When fists connect yoou, it's never a casual affair, and the unexpected can always crop up. So, I believe it's crucial to afford this sport respect."
Raab isn't just returning to the ring, but also to TV, after a 2015 hiatus from the screens. Halmich also views this as a special day for herself, writing on Instagram, "To be honest, I never thought I'd pack my bag for a boxing match again. It feels like a dream."
