Ryan will receive the "Heart of Sarajevo" honorary award at the 30th Sarajevo Film Festival, taking place from August 16 to 23, 2024. "Meg Ryan has stolen our hearts from the start," says Jovan Marjanović, the festival's director. "Not only has she enchanted us with her unforgettable performances, but she's also proven her skills behind the camera as a director and screenwriter." It's an honor to present the award to the 62-year-old.
According to a festival statement, Ryan will be present and greet the audience at an open-air screening of her classic "You've Got Mail", in which she stars alongside Tom Hanks (68). The romantic comedy premiered at the same venue 25 years ago. Additionally, the Hollywood star will participate in a career talk and her latest film "What Happens Later" will be shown. As expected, this film is a romantic comedy, with Ryan serving as director and co-writer. She also stars in the film alongside "The X-Files" star David Duchovny (63).
