Nicole Kidman's 49th Annual AFI Life Achievement Award is celebrated with Ava DuVernay's presence at Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California on April 27, 2024.

Ava DuVernay, the director, is currently working on a clandestine undertaking at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), as revealed exclusively.

A renowned filmmaker, nominated for an Oscar, is currently in town working on a clandestine venture connected to the event, as per a reliable insider who spoke to CNN.

InformATION about the undertaking is limited, but the tipster reveals that DuVernay is managing whatever she's recording at the DNC this week. This undertaking won't be featured in the convention's schedule, the source mentioned further.

On the third night, DuVernay was observed on the DNC stage. She was also spotted behind-the-scenes with former President Barack Obama and Eva Longoria, according to her Instagram Story updates.

DuVernay, one of Hollywood's most influential Black female directors, boasts a substantial portfolio of storytelling that emphasizes the power of Black leaders, activism, slavery, and racism.

For her 2014 directing effort in "Selma," which depicted the 1965 voting rights marches from Selma to Montgomery led by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., DuVernay turned into the first Black woman to receive a Golden Globe nomination for best director. Two years later, she was nominated for an Oscar for her critically-acclaimed criminal justice documentary "13th." Her 2019 Netflix series, "When They See Us," about the Central Park Five, earned 16 Primetime Emmy nominations and won two. Her latest film, "Origin," was lauded by critics.

DuVernay maintains a close relationship and collaborates with Oprah Winfrey, who will be a speaker at the DNC on Wednesday night. DuVernay brought "Queen Sugar" to Winfrey's OWN network, making it the longest-running television series ever developed by a Black female creator. DuVernay opted for an all-female director team for every episode in the series' seven-season run, aiming to boost female representation in the entertainment industry.

DuVernay endorsed Kamala Harris soon after President Joe Biden announced his departure. At the time, DuVernay shared on social media, "There is no more debate," regarding Harris' bid. "We either make this happen or literally, more of us perish."

In 2021, DuVernay backed Obama on his book tour for his memoir "A Promised Land," sharing the stage with him for a dialogue on police reform, activism, and racial justice.

DuVernay's collaboration with Oprah Winfrey at the DNC includes her speaking role on Wednesday night, which adds an exciting aspect to the event's entertainment. After her appearance, fans can anticipate more of DuVernay's captivating storytelling in her future projects, further enriching the entertainment industry.
