Authorities probe into racially-charged outbursts on Sylt island.
A group of people are seen and heard yelling racist slogans in a luxury restaurant on Sylt during Pentecost. A video of this incident has caused fury across the nation. Police are now looking into possible criminal activities from the video.
Though the video only lasts a few seconds, it shows young men and women chanting "Foreigners out" and "Germany to the Germans" with the tune of Gigi D'Agostini's hit song "L'amour Toujours." One person even mimics a Hitler beard gesture. Despite the offensive slurs, no one in the crowded restaurant seems to react or express concern.
Authorities became aware of the clip and are currently reviewing it for any signs of criminal misconduct. Local police departments have asked for any information regarding the individuals in the footage.
One of the most popular pubs on the island of Sylt is involved in this incident, known as "Pony." It's located on the island's famous "Whisky Mile," where admission can cost up to 150 euros, not including drinks. The management of this hot spot strongly denounces the occurrence, calling it "disgusting behavior." They have also announced that they would report the case to the relevant legal authorities and ensure the offenders are banned from their premises permanently.
In a statement released on Instagram, the 'Pony' team expressed their shock at the developments. "We distance ourselves from any type of racism and discrimination," they informed their audience. "If we had been informed of the issue, we would have immediately expelled the individuals in question, as there is no room for such actions at our bar."
The police stated they have received numerous tips about the occurrence and are working on identifying the persons involved in the video.
The "Pony" was known to be one of the hottest gathering spots on the island, and the venue's management vowed to take a firm stance against this type of behavior. They'll be utilizing all legal avenues to ensure such incidents never occur in their establishment again.
