Terrorism - Attackers kill eleven policemen in attack in Iran
Attackers have killed eleven police officers in an attack on a police headquarters in the southern Iranian city of Rask. Seven others were injured in the night-time attack, reported the Tasnim news agency, which is considered the mouthpiece of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards. Several attackers were also killed.
According to the report, the attack took place in the province of Sistan and Balochistan. The Sunni separatist group Jaysh al-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack, as Tasnim further reported. The situation at the site of the attack has been brought back under control. According to the state news agency Irna, the region near the Pakistani border was searched by helicopter to locate members of the group.

The attack in Rask was not an isolated incident of violence in Iran, as the Sunni separatist group Jaysh al-Adl, based near the Pakistani border, has previously been linked to similar acts of criminality in the region. The Iranian authorities, including the police force, have been vigilant in their response to such terrorism, considering the history of Jaysh al-Adl attacks in cities like Tehran. The episode in Rask serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of terrorism in the country.
