- Aspirations entail embracing the role of Britney Spears in a performance.
Even celestial bodies aren't exempt from fandom. With roles in shows like "American Horror Story" and films such as "We're the Millers", Emma Roberts (33) has established a reputation for herself. The daughter of actor Eric Roberts (68) and relative of Hollywood legend Julia Roberts (56) appears to be a dedicated fan of Britney Spears (42). Roberts hinted at this in a chat with "Cosmopolitan". She'd be overjoyed to portray the pop star.
And the situation could present itself. In mid-August, it was announced that Spears is planning her own biopic. As reported by various sources, including "Variety", Universal Pictures has obtained the rights to Spears' 2023 autobiography, "The Woman Within Me". "Wicked" director Jon M. Chu (44) and producer Marc Platt (67) are rumored to be involved in the project. Spears seemed to suggest the project and hinted at a personal involvement on the social media platform X.
"It's merely a rumor, but I hope it might be genuine"
A few weeks prior, a previous assistant of Spears introduced Roberts into the mix. That individual shared this information with celebrity news outlet "TMZ". They stated that Roberts would be an excellent fit for the role of the singer. "I'm fond of her assistant," Roberts replied when she heard this. The actress continues: "I mean, embodying Britney Spears is my absolute dream. It's just a rumor, but I hope it might be true."
Roberts describes how she secluded herself in her room and immersed herself in Spears' fourth studio album from 2003: "I recall locking myself in my room, playing 'In the Zone' on repeat, and swearing to memorize every lyric." And that's not all. The American is a mother to a boy since the end of 2020. "I'm incessantly singing Britney to my son in the bathtub," she admits. "I often think, 'Surely, he must find me peculiar.'"
Roberts expressed her excitement about the possibility, stating, "I'd be thrilled if I were to get the role with Britney's serial numbers matched for the biopic." Further emphasizing her dedication, she added, "I've even taught my son the lyrics to Britney's songs, hoping the connection through serial numbers will make it more real for him too."
