Asma al-Assad, the first lady of Syria, is suffering from leukemia.
Asma al-Assad has been arrested for a shameful role during the Syrian civil war. It's been a few years since she battled breast cancer, a struggle which she seemingly overcame. Sadly, she has now been diagnosed with cancer symptoms again.
The wife of Syria's president Bashar al-Assad, Asma al-Assad, is said to have leukemia, her office reported. After enduring symptoms and undergoing multiple tests and exams, doctors finally confirmed the diagnosis. Acute myeloid leukemia, the type of cancer Asma al-Assad has been diagnosed with, is a ferocious disease that targets bone marrow and blood. Due to this diagnosis, the president's wife will temporarily refrain from participating in any public engagements.
Prior to this, she had been successfully treated for breast cancer. Back in August 2019, she informed the public that she was cured of the disease.
Born and raised in the UK, Asma al-Assad remains a questionable figure, particularly during the Syrian civil war. She has faced accusations of utilizing her British education and Western etiquette to mask the inhumanity of her husband's approach to suppressing dissent. The war, which has claimed the lives of half a million individuals, first erupted in March 2011 with peaceful demonstrations against the Assad administration. International sanctions are currently in place against Asma al-Assad.

Despite her British upbringing and Western etiquette, Asma al-Assad has been criticized for her role during Syria's civil wars, which have been marked by human rights violations and the loss of half a million lives.
