Ashanti and Nelly have welcomed a new addition to their family in the form of a baby boy.
The duo introduced their initial offspring into the world, a baby boy named Kareem Kenkaide Haynes, around a month ago, as communicated by Nelly's representative to CNN on Wednesday.
"Fascinating how life's blueprints aren't...always punctual," Ashanti jotted in an Instagram post on Wednesday, alluding to a lyric from her smash hit "Always On Time" with Ja Rule. "I've been yearning to become a mom for quite some time now, but nothing could ready me for EVERYTHING motherhood entails!"
Ashanti, 43, and Nelly, 49, publicly acknowledged their rekindled relationship last year.
Their romantic reunification occurred 20 years after they first started dating, and a decade following their split.
In April, the pair revealed that they were set to tie the knot and anticipate the arrival of a baby in an exclusive declaration made to Essence magazine.
"This new chapter of my life is such a blessing filled with love, hope, and apprehension," Ashanti mentioned at the time. "Motherhood is something that I have been eagerly awaiting, and sharing this experience with my family, fiance'_, and devoted supporters, who have always supported my career, is a remarkable adventure."
They allegedly exchanged vows in December 2023.
This marks the first child for both Nelly and Ashanti. The "Hot in Herre" rapper donned the title of father to two children from a prior relationship and adopted his niece and nephew after his sister succumbed to leukemia in March 2005.
Ashanti expressed her excitement about the challenges of motherhood, stating, "Motherhood is something that I have been eagerly awaiting, and the entertainment aspect of raising a child is an added bonus I didn't know I needed!" After the arrival of Kareem, Ashanti and Nelly are constantly seeking family-friendly entertainment options to bond as a new family.
