Christmas card from the Grimaldis - As if nothing had ever happened: Charlène and Albert of Monaco show themselves as a happy family
It is a long-standing tradition for the Monegasque royals to publish a Christmas card shortly before Christmas Eve. It is adorned with a current family picture, which many fans of the dwarf monarchy are eagerly awaiting. This Friday was the day. "The Prince's Palace invites you to discover the Christmas photo of the princely family," it says on the official Facebook account of the Prince's Palace of Monaco.

There is indeed a lot to discover: Prince Albert II and Charlène of Monaco have dressed up for the occasion, he is wearing a tuxedo with a red bow tie, she a brown gown. The children are also festively dressed for the occasion. Jacques Honoré Rainier cuddles up to his mother, his father's hand rests on the shoulder of his twin sister Gabriella Thérèse Marie. All in all, the Grimaldis send the image of a happy family out into the world. As if nothing had ever happened.
For a long time, they were considered the couple in crisis among the European royals: the marriage of Prince Albert II of Monaco and his wife Charlène was repeatedly overshadowed by rumors. The relationship had broken down and the spouses had become estranged from each other. This was compounded by a mysterious illness that led to Charlène spending large parts of 2021 away from the Principality. Which some saw as evidence of a marriage in crisis.
Charlène vehemently refuted such speculation. "My family is my rock," she told the newspaper Monaco Matin in 2022. Albert also denied these "hurtful rumors". "Charlène is always by my side," he told the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera in September.
With the Christmas card, the Grimaldis underline their claims once again. True to the motto: pictures say more than words.
