Anne verifies the upcoming 'Princess Diaries 3': "Miracles indeed transpire"
Anne Hathaway shared an entertaining video on her verified Instagram on a Friday. In the clip, she was Relaxing outdoors before giving the number one sign with her hand. The video then transitioned to a younger Hathaway from the 2001 movie "The Princess Diaries," where she famously said, "A princess?! Shut up!"
Upon displaying two fingers, Hathaway's scene shifted to her co-star, the legendary Julie Andrews, repeating the phrase "Shut up" from "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" released in 2004.
With a grin, Hathaway held up three fingers and echoed the phrase herself. She then laughed and blew a kiss to the camera before disclosing the exciting news that "The Princess Diaries 3" is under development at Disney, with Adele Lim of "Joyride" set to direct.
Captioning the post with, "Miracles happen," Hathaway hinted at a return to her role as Mia Thermopolis, the unsuspecting teen who discovered her royal lineage in the film series. She concluded with, "Back to Genovia," "The fairy tale continues," and a flaming heart emoji.
"The Princess Diaries" revolves around Mia, played by Hathaway, and her shocking discovery of her destiny as the heir to a royal throne. Andrews portrayed Queen Clarice Renaldi, the estranged grandmother of Mia and Genovia's ruler.
While the prospect of a 3rd "Princess Diaries" film, after a 20-year hiatus, is an exciting revelation, it's not the only anticipated sequel Hathaway is connected to.
IMDb suggests that "The Devil Wears Prada 2" is in pre-production with Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci listed as cast members. The storyline for this sequel will reportedly see Streep's ruthless magazine editor, Miranda Priestly, clashing with her former assistant and now-rival executive Emily Charlton (Blunt), as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media, with Miranda approaching retirement.
Anne Hathaway's entertaining Instagram post sparked discussions about the upcoming "Princess Diaries 3," indicating her return as Mia Thermopolis. Fans are also eager for "The Devil Wears Prada 2," where Hathaway and Meryl Streep reprise their roles in a new storyline focused on competition for advertising revenue.
