Had a very close relationship for many years: twin siblings Angel and Aaron Carter - here in Los Angeles in 2014.

Twin sister of Aaron Carter - Angel knew her brother was going to die

On November 5, 2022, the life of Aaron Carter (1987-2022) ended tragically. His lifeless body was discovered by the housekeeper in his bathtub, and it became clear that the brother of Backstreet Boys-Star Nick Carter (44) had died at the young age of 34 from a drug overdose. For Angel Carter, his twin sister (36), this drama came as no surprise: In an episode of the podcast "Squeeze," Angel spoke about her brother and his condition before the tragedy. She had spent years preparing for his death.

Since the age of twelve, her brother had been battling drugs. For Angel Carter, who had also lost her sisters Leslie (1986-2012) and Bobbie Jean (1982-2023) due to overdoses, her brother's case was different: "What's interesting about Leslie's death - she died when I was 23: Her death came as a complete surprise to me." She hadn't seen it coming. "When she died, I was already in therapy, preparing myself for Aaron's death," Angel Carter recounted. She had long suspected that he would die and had been afraid for years: "I knew that day was coming, and I believe he did too."

She had tried for a long time to help her brother with his addiction, as he couldn't free himself from it alone. Aaron Carter had often rejected her support. In that conversation, she specifically remembered the summer of 2019, when her brother's struggle with his demons intensified, and he suffered from a psychosis - accompanied by a bipolar and schizophrenic diagnosis. During this time, he had talked about killing people and even babies in front of her, as well as suddenly organizing weapons for himself.

Angel Carter obtained a restraining order against her twin brother Aaron

Therefore, with the help of their newly widowed mother and her brother Nick Carter, Angel obtained a restraining order against Aaron, preventing him from approaching her - out of fear. This legal proceeding led, in turn, to the confiscation of Aaron Carter's weapons: "I had to protect him from himself," Angel Carter explained in the podcast, tears in her eyes.

The cause of the downfall, in her opinion, lies in her brother's environment when he became a child star at the age of nine. At that time, she believed that people around him had only exploited and used him. "I couldn't save him," Angel added, "it wasn't in my power to save him, but I tried."

  1. Despite Nick Carter's fame as a Backstreet Boys star, his twin brother Aaron Carter faced a tragic end at the age of 34 due to a drug overdose on November 5, 2022.
  2. Angel Carter, Aaron's twin sister, had predicted his death for years, having previously lost two sisters, Leslie and Bobbie Jean, to overdoses.
  3. Recalling a summer in 2019 when Aaron suffered from psychosis, accompanied by a bipolar and schizophrenic diagnosis, Angel recalled her brother talking about harming people and organizing weapons.
  4. Concerned for her brother's safety, Angel, with her mother and brother Nick's help, obtained a restraining order against Aaron, preventing him from approaching her due to fear and leading to the confiscation of his weapons.
