Indictment for rape - Andrew Tate is allowed to leave Romania - and has big plans

With a Maserati to Cannes or a Ferrari to Italy? This question is now posed by former kickboxer and controversial macho influencer Andrew Tate – bare-chested in a video on platform X, where he has around 9.5 million followers. Shortly beforehand, a court in Bucharest had decided that Tate, who is in Romania waiting for his trial on charges of human trafficking and sexual exploitation, can travel freely within the EU. His co-defendant brother is also allowed to leave the country.

"I am free", Tate posted in capital letters on X. "For the first time in 3 years, I can leave Romania." The "sham trial" is collapsing. The 37-year-old has shared several videos on X, including one showing him with a bare upper body in front of a computer – while a woman massages his head and another woman in a bikini hands him a cigar. "Where is he going? To the Italian Alps? Genf? London Paris?" It seems that the man, who is criticized as misogynistic and admired, is imagining his new freedom. He is also promoting a platform that allegedly teaches the art of earning money.

Andrew Tate announces "Crypto-Revolution"

The X page of Tate has been active since the court decision: In another post, he claims to have already received "millions of dollars for books, series, and films." With the money, he plans to "clean up the crypto space forever"; on Monday, he will reveal details for an alleged "Crypto-Revolution" in a podcast. "This is now my world."

Tate is charged with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women with human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and the formation of a criminal organization for the sexual exploitation of women. All deny the allegations.

The Romanian prosecutor's office accuses the Tate brothers of recruiting their victims by deceiving them and falsely promising them a relationship or marriage. The victims were then sexually exploited outside of Bucharest.

The court in Bucharest decided in April of this year that the trial could begin.

Until the decision on the appeal, the four suspects were banned from leaving Romania, but with the court decision on Friday, this ban for the European Union was lifted. The decision is not legally binding and can be contested by the prosecutor. The brothers, both former kickboxers with American and British nationality, are the most prominent suspects in this Eastern European country to stand trial for human trafficking. Their case is a test for the Romanian law enforcement agencies in their fight against organized crime.

"Andrew and Tristan are still determined to clean up their name and reputation," said the brothers' main lawyer, Eugen Vidineac, in a statement.

Self-proclaimed misogynist Tate threatens further consequences

Tate, who refers to himself as a misogynist, has won millions of fans by promoting an ultra-masculine lifestyle. This, according to critics, disparages women.

The 37-year-old Influencer has legal troubles not only in Romania: Sky News reported that in another case, a civil lawsuit was filed against Tate by four British women.

The four women allege that Tate sexually and physically assaulted them and reported him to the British authorities in 2014 and 2015. After four-year-long investigations, the prosecution decided not to pursue criminal charges against him in 2019. The alleged victims organized a crowdfunding campaign to file a civil lawsuit against him.

In a third case, the Tate brothers appeared before the Appeals Court in Bucharest in March, following the issuance of arrest warrants by the British authorities for alleged sexual assaults between the years 2012 and 2015 in the United Kingdom. The Appeals Court granted the British request for extradition, but only after the completion of the court proceedings in Romania.

"Despite the ongoing legal battles, Andrew Tate, the influential Romanian figure, has announced plans to revolutionize the crypto space from his newfound freedom in Europe."

"Amidst his triumphant posts on X, many are curious about Andrew Tate's potential destinations, with suggestions ranging from the Italian Alps to Paris, reflecting his wider influence as an influencer beyond Romania."
