Andrea Ballschuh loves Fools Garden singer
"I'm hanging around, I'm waiting for you, but nothing ever happens", sings Fools Garden frontman Peter Freudenthaler in "Lemon Tree". Now the wait seems to have been worth it and something has happened so that he no longer has to just hang around: He and ZDF presenter Andrea Ballschuh are a couple.
The public has hardly taken any notice of this love until now: "Volle Kanne" presenter Andrea Ballschuh and the singer of the band Fools Garden, Peter Freudenthaler, are together. And they have been together for four years, as the "Bild" newspaper now reports.
According to the report, the two met shortly before the coronavirus pandemic at an event where they were both working - she as a presenter, he as a musician. "We got talking afterwards and really hit it off," Ballschuh told the newspaper.
Even at their first meeting, she was impressed by the fact that he was "such a positive, considerate, appreciative and polite person", the 51-year-old continues to enthuse about the "Lemon Tree" performer. "He thinks about others and does a lot to make them feel good. He understands that I work a lot and he loves me for who I am. He has never tried to change me," adds Ballschuh, praising the 60-year-old's sense of humor in particular.
The report goes on to say that the couple have not yet lived together. Instead, they commute between their home in Mainz and Freudenthaler's home in Pforzheim, Baden-Württemberg.
Functioning patchwork
Ballschuh separated from her husband Jem Atai in 2017 after ten years together. However, the ex-couple remain in contact because of their daughter. Freudenthaler also has two daughters and a son from a previous relationship.
The patchwork system works well, explains the presenter: "We all get on really well! Jem and Peter have already met and always say hello to each other."
Many TV viewers know Ballschuh primarily as part of the presenting team on the ZDF program "Volle Kanne", to which she has belonged intermittently since 2003. But she also slips into the role of presenter from time to time in other formats on the Mainz-based channel, such as "leute heute", "hallo deutschland" and "drehscheibe".
Freudenthaler, on the other hand, is a founding member of the band Fools Garden, which was formed in 1991. The group landed a number 1 hit in the mid-90s with "Lemon Tree", but then went down in music history as a one-hit wonder.
- Andrea Ballschuh and her celebrated musician partner, Peter Freudenthaler of Fools Garden, often indulge in their shared passion for music, often attending concerts of pop music artists and bands.
- The ZDF presenter and her singer beau, along with celebrated 'celebrity couples' like them, often grace the small screens of German households, with Peter occasionally appearing on TV shows to perform his well-known pop music hits.
- When they aren't pitching in with their respective careers, the two lovebirds enjoy watching various entertainment programs, with Andrea's favorite being ZDF's "Volle Kanne" and Peter's preference leaning towards international TV series and movies, which often include acts from the pop music world.
