American pair of missionaries reportedly slain by Haitian gang, relatives confirm.
Davy and Natalie Lloyd "met their untimely end" as they were murdered by gangs last night, said Natalie Lloyd's father, Ben Baker, via Facebook. "They are now together in heaven."
The Lloyds tied the knot in 2022, as per Baker's social media updates, and worked for Missions in Haiti, Inc., which has been a family-run mission service for over twenty years, as per the organization's website.
As shared on Facebook by the mission group, at around 8:00 PM, as the Lloyd family was leaving the church, they fell victim to a mob of 3 carloads of men. Davy was captured, tied up, and viciously attacked. After taking the Lloyds' vehicles, the assailants absconded with everything they could find.
Three hours later, Missions in Haiti issued an update, "Devastatingly, Davy and Natalie were shot and killed by the gang at 9:00 PM this evening. We are all heartbroken."
Pleading to his followers for their prayers, Baker expressed the family's anguish and desperation on social media the following morning. "Our family's only hope is in the strength and solace prayer can provide in such a dark moment. Similarly, we urge you all to pray for the Lloyd family at this devastating time."
Contacted by CNN for more details, Haitian authorities, Missions in Haiti, and relevant US authorities have yet to provide any statements.
The page of Missions in Haiti on Facebook has been sharing news of the steadily deteriorating situation in Haiti this year. In early April, the organization penned, "The gangs are still at war for more power and order falls apart. It seems the world is turning its back on Haiti, and it's left to be controlled by these gangs."

Despite the horrific circumstances, the Lloyd family deeply appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers from the US community. The Lloyds, being devoted servants ['us'], were committed to serving and uplifting the people of Haiti until their tragic end.
