Rea Garvey and Conchita Wurst - All information about the new show "I want to go to the ESC!"

A new format is to help in the search for the German singing talent for the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö. In the six-part docutainment series "Ich will zum ESC!", Conchita Wurst (35) and Rea Garvey (50) take on this challenge. The first episodes can already be seen in January.

"I want to go to the ESC!" in the ARD media library

According to the press release, Wurst and Garvey will act as coaches in "Ich will zum ESC!" and put together their teams from a total of 15 talents. Only the best singers will progress to the next rounds. The first three episodes will be available in the ARD media library from January 25, 2024, episode four will be available from January 30.

Episode five (from February 1 in the ARD media library) will then show who the coaches' favorites are. In the sixth and final episode, the audience will then decide who will compete live in Berlin on February 16 in the preliminary round of the "Eurovision Song Contest - The German Final 2024". The final episode of "Ich will zum ESC!" can be seen live on February 8 at 10 p.m. on ARD or in the ARD media library.

New show also on free TV

If you prefer to watch the new series on TV, you can tune in on January 27 at 11:05 p.m. on ARD, where the first two episodes will be shown. A week later, episodes three and four will continue in the same time slot. A broadcast date for episode five has not yet been announced. On February 8, the sixth episode and thus the final will be shown live on Ersten from 10 p.m.

ESC final 2024 will take place in May

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and the public broadcaster SVT announced in July that the upcoming music competition will take place in Malmö. The final of the Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024. In the same week, on May 7 and May 9, the two semi-finals will be held beforehand.

As is well known, things went less well for Germany in 2023. The band Lord of the Lost unfortunately only came last in Liverpool, behind Great Britain and Serbia. In contrast, singer Loreen (40) won again with her song "Tattoo" and brought next year's edition back to Sweden. She had already been successful at the ESC in Baku in 2012 with the song "Euphoria".
