Sophia Thiel - After "Let's Dance" she "collapsed emotionally"

For the second time in her successful career as an influencer, Sophia Thiel (29) has recently withdrawn from social media. Her last post on Instagram is from May 17, nearly a month before she was eliminated as the eighth contestant of this year's "Let's Dance" series and did not participate in the show's finale. Her withdrawal from public life since then has a valid reason, as she revealed in an interview with "Spiegel."

She explained that after participating in the RTL format, she became ill and then emotionally collapsed. I had unfortunately experienced binge eating again and, due to loss of control, fell into a depressive phase.

Given that she could experience such a relapse due to the physical and mental strain of the show, which forced her into a multi-year social media break in 2019, was foreseeable in hindsight. At the time, she had not noticed it. "But as soon as I returned to Berlin, it suddenly went wrong for me, and I was confronted with my old demons again."

Resumed Therapy

Thiel reassured her fans in the interview that her current condition is "already a long time ago not as bad as in 2019." She acknowledged, "I know that an eating disorder can never be completely cured." However, she has learned better ways to deal with depressive phases and take immediate steps - "I contacted my therapist again and resumed my sessions."

Thiel does not speculate in the interview about how long this break will last or make future plans for her career: "I have no plans for the next three, four, or five years, for any area of my life."

Help for depression is available through the Telephone Counseling Service under the toll-free number: 0800/111 0 111.

After her departure from "Let's Dance," Sophia Thiel's Instagram posts stopped, and she retreated from public life on RTL. Despite participating in the popular show, she experienced a relapse of binge eating, leading to a period of depression. To manage her mental health, Sophia resumed therapy on Instagram, a platform she revisited after her previous social media break in 2019.
