- After angry fan comments, Simone Biles defends her husband
An Olympic gold medal is not something one sees or wears around the neck very often. NFL football player Jonathan Owens probably thought the same and posed with one of his wife, gymnastics legend Simone Biles', many gold medals. A photo of Biles and Owens with the medal (which he posted on Instagram) recently circulated on TikTok, where user Kiera Breaugh picked it up and commented on it.

"Take off her medal," Breaugh said in her TikTok video. "Were you the one flying through the air yesterday? Were you the one spinning 30 times in the air and landing without a stumble? No," she scolded. In the comments under her post, Owens was also dragged. "I recognize her, that's Simone Biles, but who is he?" one user joked. "So nice of her to pose with a fan," another commented.
Biles has since responded to Breaugh's post. "The crazy thing is that I've hung my medal on every single one of my family members and taken pictures. So never assume. You're all so f----ing miserable. Let us live," the gymnastics legend commented.
But what's behind the hate against Owens? It stems from an interview he gave in December of last year. In it, he spoke about the beginnings of their relationship and came off as a bit too confident in the eyes of Biles' fans. They met on a dating app. "I didn't know who she was at the time, but the first thing I saw was that she had a lot of followers online, so I thought, 'She must be good'," he told the podcast "The Pivot". Later, he was asked if he thought he was "the catch" in the relationship. "I always say, we men, are the catch. I always say, we are the catch," he responded.
Biles insinuated at the time that everything was fine between her and her husband. In the podcast "Call Her Daddy" recently, she directly addressed it. "He never said that I wasn't a good catch, he said that he was a good catch. Because he is. I've never met a man like him," she said. She also revealed how she experienced the backlash at the time. "I thought everything was fine, and then I go on Twitter and everyone's saying, 'Leave this man, he's mean!'"
Clearly, Biles' fans have not forgiven the athlete for how he spoke about the gymnast.

I'm not defending his words, but I believe the situation has been blown out of proportion. I'm not going to engage with the negativity towards my husband.
