ADAC predicts heavy traffic during the extended Whitsun holiday.

During the upcoming Whitsun weekend, highways and essential main roads will likely experience heavy traffic, the ADAC revealed in Munich on Monday. A few federal states have floating holidays or school vacations, raising the risk of traffic jams in southern Germany, especially.

The ADAC anticipates traffic issues once again, particularly on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, as well as Whit Monday itself. Locations in Germany like the Alps, German low mountain ranges, and the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas will be popular destinations for vacation and excursions, according to the automobile club. Additionally, traveling to neighboring countries may create congestion.

The ADAC also predicts significant congestion potential in Austria and Switzerland this weekend due to classic Alpine crossings such as the Tauern, Inntal, Rheintal, and Brenner highways. Long-distance routes leading to vacation spots on Croatia's coast could also experience delays.

Given the heavy traffic predicted by ADAC during the Whitsun weekend, drivers should avoid using large vehicles and consider alternative routes to mitigate the risk of traffic jams on popular roads and highways. Moreover, the congestion in Austria and Switzerland, particularly on classic Alpine crossings, should alert travelers planning to visit neighboring countries.
