Isabelle Huppert (71) has exciting weeks ahead. At the Munich Film Festival (28. June to 7. July), the French cinema legend will present her new work "Madame Sidonie in Japan." At the Venice Film Festival (28. August to 7. September), the actress will chair the jury, and in October, she will receive the Lumière Award in Lyon. This was recently announced on the Lumière Film Festival's website.
Isabelle Huppert to receive Lumière Award in October
According to the justification, Huppert is not only one of the "most renowned and celebrated French actresses," but her work is also admired by colleagues and peers such as Cate Blanchett (55), Julianne Moore (63), Sean Penn (63), and Natalie Portman (43). Her career spans "a significant part of contemporary cinema's history." She has worked with Claude Chabrol (1930-2010) on seven films alone.
The 16th edition of the annual festival takes place in Lyon, France, from October 12-20, 2024. The award is scheduled to be presented to Huppert on October 18 on site. She follows in the footsteps of German director Wim Wenders (78), who was honored in 2023. Receiving the award is described as a "source of joy and pride" for the Frenchwoman.
Previous recipients of the award include Tim Burton (65), Jane Fonda (86), Francis Ford Coppola (85), Martin Scorsese (81), and Catherine Deneuve (80). The award is given for the entire body of work of a film personality and their connection to film history.
Isabelle Huppert will travel to Lyon in October, not only to attend the 16th Lumière Film Festival but also to receive the prestigious Lumière Award. This recognition is a testament to her impressive career in cinema, which has taken her from Venice to Munich, and now to Lyon. Her new film, "Madame Sidonie in Japan," will be showcased at the Munich Film Festival, following its premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier in the year.
