The well-recognized actor and former Sumo wrestler Taylor Wily is no longer among us, at the tender age of 56. Known for his long-running role in "Hawaii Five-0," Wily departed this world, leaving behind a spouse and two kids.
Former MMA fighter, Sumo wrestler, and television actor Taylor Wily recently passed away, according to Variety, with support from KITV and a post by Peter M. Lenkov on Instagram. It is alleged that Wily's passing happened shortly after his birthday, with the reason for his demise currently unknown.
On social media, the 60-year-old Lenkov, creator and producer of "Hawaii Five-0," expressed his feelings about Wily: "T, as I've often told you, I fell for you during our very first audition. When you arrived with a towel on your head, wiping the sweat off, I was smitten from that moment, and you became an indelible character in the series and my life."
Just a week ago, the two chatted about "Hawaii Five-0," laughing about how Wily accurately described the show as the dream job for both of them right from the get-go. "You were family. And I will miss you every day, brother," Lenkov added.
Born in 1968 in Hawaii, Wily found success as a Sumo wrestler under the name Takamikuni. On the big and small screens, he was most famous for his role as Kamekona in the crime series "Hawaii Five-0," during which he starred in 171 episodes. Kamekona, a charismatic ex-convict and shrimp truck owner, formed a bond with the investigative team of the show, often providing them with useful insights. Additionally, he had minor roles in remakes of "MacGyver" and "Magnum," as well as the comedy "Never Again with the Ex." According to the reports, he leaves behind his wife Halona and two children.
