Actor Patrick Dempsey takes on the role of a police officer.
For the forthcoming "Dexter: Original Sin" spin-off show, a notable actor has been announced: Patrick Dempsey, famously known from "Grey's Anatomy," joins the cast and plays a cop.
As per the American entertainment news source, "Variety," the 58-year-old ex-"Grey's Anatomy" star has secured another acting gig. In the upcoming "Dexter" prequel series "Original Sin," Dempsey's character is named Aaron Spencer and is the Chief of the Miami Metro Homicide Commission, where the main character of the series, Dexter Morgan (Patrick Gibson), also works.
In "Dexter: Original Sin": This upcoming crime series offered by the US streaming service Paramount+ takes place in 1991, which is 15 years before the known "Dexter" events. In this show, young Dexter Morgan learns, under the tutelage of his father Harry (Christian Slater), to redirect his thirst for murder towards those he deems need to be eliminated from society: criminals, murderers, or rapists who have so far evaded the law. Young Dexter strives to avoid drawing the attention of law enforcement, as he also initiates a forensic internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Filming in Miami has already begun.
Dempsey's character Aaron Spencer has a long-standing relationship with Harry Morgan, Dexter's adoptive father and mentor. The first season of the new series, which started production this month in Miami, consists of ten episodes.
