Actor Kevin Costner affirms his decision not to reprise his role in the hit series "Yellowstone".

Actor Kevin Costner declared the news in a video he posted on Instagram.

"I feel the need to communicate that after dedicating over a year and a half to the production of Horizon, and pondering about the much-loved show Yellowstone, I regrettably can't carry on with Season 5b or future seasons," Costner expressed.

He'll soon be launching a multiple-part film series, the first installment, titled "Horizon: An American Saga," is premiering in theaters next week.

Shortly after the announcement of Yellowstone's return on November 10, he shared the video.

Costner shared his feelings about the show where he played character John Sutton, "It was truly life-changing for me, and I know you, dear fans, loved it just as much."

"I'm sorry to inform you that I won't be back. I appreciate the bond we've formed, and I'll catch you at the movies," he added.

During his appearance on Howard Stern's show, Costner revealed that he would only return if "the stars align just right."

"This means the plotlines, scripts need to be compelling, and I want to work more than once a year. And to achieve that, some time must be set aside for other projects. When that couldn't happen, it's no longer feasible for me," Costner stated.

He also conversed with the show's creator, Taylor Sheridan.

"We both highlighted our preferences, and it appears we can't find a solution," Costner disclosed. "My life has always been about remaining steadfast, even in hopeless situations where it doesn't suit me."

Costner created the character John Sutton and believes the show can proceed without him. He's working on co-writing, co-producing, directing, and starring in the first Horizon film.

"Horizon: An American Saga" will be released in theaters on June 28. The movie is distributed by Warner Bros., like CNN, it falls under Warner Bros. Discovery.
