Processes - Actor Jonathan Majors found partially guilty
US actor Jonathan Majors (34, "Creed III - Rocky's Legacy") has been found partially guilty in a trial on charges of assault and domestic violence. A jury in New York found Majors guilty on two of four charges, the public prosecutor's office announced. According to US media reports, the sentence for the actor will be announced on February 6. He faces up to one year in prison, but the sentence could also be suspended.
The trial against Majors began in New York at the end of November. The Marvel star was temporarily taken into custody by the police in March following an incident with his girlfriend at the time, Grace Jabbari. The woman claimed that Majors had injured her during a violent argument in a car. The actor denied the allegations. His legal team portrayed Jabbari as the attacker.
Jabbari took the stand in the trial, Majors did not testify. The actor often appeared on trial days accompanied by his current girlfriend, actress Meagan Good (42, "Shazam!").
Majors was considered an up-and-coming star in Hollywood
Following the guilty verdict, Majors' lawyer held out the prospect of appealing against the sentence. Majors wanted to clear his name completely, said lawyer Priya Chaudhry in a statement.
New York District Attorney Alvin Bragg, on the other hand, welcomed the verdict. In a statement, he said the trial had revealed patterns of abuse, coercion and assault by the defendant towards his girlfriend.
Majors was considered an up-and-coming star in Hollywood before the allegations came to light. He was one of the leading actors in the boxing drama "Creed III" (2023). This year, he also starred as the supervillain Kang in the Marvel film "Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania". Following the guilty verdict, Marvel Studios banned the "Kang" actor from further films, reported the industry portals "Hollywood Reporter" and "Variety".
