Actor Horst Janson experiences a stroke.
In the 1970s, popular German actor Horst Janson became widely recognized for his role in the TV show "Der Bastian." Today, at 88 years old, Janson is married to Hella Ruthardt for the second time. Ruthardt shares updates on her husband's health after he recently experienced a stroke.
Horst Janson suffered a mild stroke that led to significant changes in his life. Ruthardt, who wed Janson in 1982, spoke with the "Freizeit Revue" magazine about the events following this traumatic medical experience. Ruthardt recalls how frightening it was when Janson came home and could no longer speak. She immediately contacted a doctor, and the medical team placed Janson on life support in the hospital.
Reflecting on the situation, Ruthardt remembered that her husband had always had low blood pressure and led a healthy lifestyle. During his hospital stay, doctors monitored Janson's blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels. Fortunately, his health steadily improved, and he was soon released from the hospital.
Ruthardt is grateful for her husband's good fortune despite the difficult situation. "He's lucky his vital signs were so strong," she says. Although his speech was initially affected, Janson's movement remained unaffected. Ruthardt adds that his short-term memory was also impaired, but they're working to restore it.
Janson has been married to Ruthardt following his first marriage to Monika Lundi, a film and TV actress, in 1973. The couple divorced three years later. Janson's rise to fame in Germany occurred through TV series such as "Salto Mortale" and "Der Bastian." He later appeared in international movies alongside stars like Tony Curtis and Richard Burton and continued acting up until 2021.
