- Actor Depardieu is undergoing judicial proceedings due to alleged sexual assault.
Actor Gérard Depardieu, renowned for films like "Cyrano de Bergerac" and "Asterix and Obelix", is currently under scrutiny for potential trial on sexual assault charges, as per reports from the German Press Agency. The Paris prosecutor's office has initiated these charges, and it's now up to a judge to decide if a trial will indeed occur for the 75-year-old.
The accusations stem from actress Charlotte Arnould, who alleges that Depardieu sexually assaulted her in his apartment back in 2018. Arnould was only 22 years old at the time. The case has been under investigation since 2020. Depardieu, on the other hand, has vehemently denied these claims.
This is not the first time Depardieu has been confronted with such serious allegations. Later this year, in October, he's expected to stand trial for similar accusations of misconduct. These allegations concern two separate incidents from September 2021, reportedly happening during the filming of "Les volets verts". Once again, Depardieu has denied these allegations.
Unfortunately, Depardieu's reputation in France has taken a hit. Several accusations, some anonymous, and not all fully investigated, along with misogynistic comments have left a negative impression.
The investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Gérard Depardieu is being handled by the Paris prosecutor's office, which falls under the jurisdiction of The Office of the Prosecutor. Regardless of Depardieu's denial, his upcoming trial in October for separate sexual misconduct allegations could further impact his public image, as scrutiny continues under the watchful eye of The Office of the Prosecutor.
