Cancellation of Concerts - "Absolutely unusual": Taylor Swift's radio silence is causing puzzles

What's Going On Inside Taylor Swift's Mind? Few Know. All three Vienna concerts were cancelled due to an acute terror threat. While fans in the Austrian city oscillate between defiant celebration and gloom, the superstar remains silent.

Taylor Swift Silent on Concert Cancellations

Swift has not uttered a word yet. She hasn't commented on the upcoming concerts in London or potential rescheduled concerts in Vienna. It's also unknown whether Swift is still in Austria or has already moved on elsewhere. Her Instagram channel is quiet, with her last post being a series of images from her concert in Poland, and comments disabled, as is typical for Swift.

"When I asked what makes Taylor Swift so popular, I often heard that it's her direct, close contact with her fans. Now, there's been no statement for 40 hours about the cancellation of the Vienna concerts for nearly 200,000 fans. Any explanation for that?", wonders Austrian journalist Armin Wolf on X, formerly Twitter. He's likely not alone in this question. "It's absolutely unusual that there's been no statement from Taylor Swift about Vienna. She's always commented on any incident related to her concerts. When someone died in Rio, she reacted, just like she did to the terrible incident in the UK," says a user.

Swift fan and publicist Natascha Strobl also seems puzzled. "That's strange," she told "T-Online". Especially because Swift is known for her communication with fans. "So, something's going on behind the scenes. They're figuring out what to do next. It's understandable, as it's about her safety," Strobl says.

Indeed, Swift has a large PR and security apparatus behind her. She likely has a whole team of communications advisors working on a statement right now. Additionally, investigations in Austria are still ongoing, with another arrest made today. Swift might be waiting for further developments before speaking out.

A Statement is Likely Coming

This would be Swift's second statement on a shocking event in a short period. In late July, a young man attacked several children at a Swift dance class in Southport, England, killing three people. Swift responded the next day. "The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport still haunts me, and I'm utterly shocked. The loss of life and innocence, and the terrible trauma inflicted on everyone present, the families, and the first responders," she wrote on Instagram.

Swift is scheduled to perform in London on August 15. Mayor Sadiq Khan assured fans that they're working closely with the police to ensure safety. In 2019, Swift spoke to "Elle" about her fear of terrorism, exacerbated by the 2017 Manchester Arena bombing during an Ariana Grande concert.

"After the bombing at the Manchester Arena and the shooting at the concert in Las Vegas, I had a lot of fear about going on tour this time because I didn't know how we could protect three million fans for seven months," Swift told "Elle". Her fear also spilled over into her personal life.

Despite the cancellation of her Vienna concerts due to an intense terror threat, Taylor Swift remains silent on the matter, neither commenting on the upcoming London shows nor addressing potential reschedules. Her Instagram channel, typically filled with fan interactions, remains quiet, with her last post being from her concert in Poland and comments disabled.

Following the unusual silence from Swift, Austrian journalist Armin Wolf questions why she hasn't issued a statement regarding the cancellation, noting that it's an unusual move for the artist who is known for her close connection with her fans.
