'Abbott Elementary' and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' are teaming up for a collaborative episode
"Quinta Brunson, the star and creator of 'Abbott Elementary', and Rob McElhenney, the star and co-creator of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', revealed on social media that they're teaming up for a joint episode.
"'Season 4 of Abbott Elementary gets nicely Sunny :),'" Brunson captioned a picture of her with McElhenney and his 'Sunny' co-star, Charlie Day.
On his Instagram, McElhenney posted a photo of the group, which included 'Sunny' star Danny DeVito and 'Abbott' actors Tyler James Williams and William Stanford Davis, all in front of 'Abbott' school set's exterior.
Both shows have a knack for capturing the essence of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In February, McElhenney hinted at 'Abbott' when discussing a Willy Wonka immersive experience.
"Many of you think this feels like an episode of Sunny, but to me it feels more like an @alwayssunny @AbbottElemABC crossover episode," he wrote at that time.
Brunson saved a screenshot of his post and replied, "Just say the word @robmcelhenney. I love you guys."
'Abbott' revolves around an elementary school serving inner-city kids, while 'Sunny' follows a gang of pals operating a seedy bar in South Philadelphia.
As of now, neither the plot nor the release date of the crossover episode has been disclosed."
"The joint episode between 'Abbott Elementary' and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' promises an entertaining blend of the two shows' unique styles."
"With Quinta Brunson, Rob McElhenney, and their respective casts collaborating for this crossover, viewers can expect an entertaining merger of Philadelphia-based humor and storytelling."
