Jana Ina Zarrella - A vacation experience has intensified fear of sharks
Moderator Sonja Zietlow (56) and science journalist Dirk Steffens (56) presented the RTL-show "Wonders of Our Earth - The Big Geo Quiz" on Saturday (27. July). Three celebrity duos competed in quiz and action rounds in the studio against each other and discovered "the wonders of our planet". After a clip about sharks in the Bahamas, not only Sonja Zietlow showed her fear of the animals.
Jana Ina Zarrella: "I thought my life was over"
"I don't have much fear, but sharks somehow belong to that", explained the moderator. "I find them creepy." But in the clip where a scientist frees sharks from hook injuries with bare hands, one can almost fall in love with them, Zietlow admitted. Contestant Jana Ina Zarrella (47) cannot fully agree.
"I get a heart attack just thinking about a shark coming near me", she said. Then she told about a vacation in Hawaii, where she wanted to swim with dolphins in the open sea. "Just before we went out, the lady, the guide, said: Please be quiet, so the sharks don't come. Then I was very careful into the water and swam calmly, but suddenly ten giant creatures moved quickly under us. If dolphins swim that fast past you, you don't know if it's dolphins or sharks! I almost had a panic attack. I thought: That's it. My life is over." It was fortunately dolphins, "but I really have a panic attack about that."
Apart from the bad shark memories, the quiz went well for Zarrella and team partner Wigald Boning (57) at first. They went as favorites into the final, but had to concede defeat to Ross Antony (50) and Lucy Diakovska (48). They earned 18,100 Euros for a good cause. The 10,700 Euros of the second placed and the 6,000 Euros of the third placed, Michi Beck (56) and Smudo (56), will also be donated.
