A male court-ordered to shell out six million dollars after engaging in false Biden phone calls.
An individual who used artificial intelligence to imitate President Joe Biden's voice and made calls to voters in the US has received a hefty fine of $6 million. Additionally, the telecommunications provider Lingo Telecom, accused of transmitting the automated calls, has also been fined by the US authority FCC. Lingo Telecom has not responded to a request for comment.
This person confessed to being responsible for a message that went out to thousands of voters right before the US presidential primary in New Hampshire in January. The message had a voice that mimicked Biden's, and it deceptively informed voters that taking part in the primary would disqualify them from participating in the presidential election in November.
The individual justified his actions by stating he intended to showcase the potential risks of artificial intelligence. FCC Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel expressed her concerns about these automated calls.
