A fire erupts in the Novo Nordisk facility.
A large fire erupted at Novo Nordisk, a pharmaceutical company situated outside Copenhagen, prompting the arrival of multiple firefighters. Thankfully, everyone was safely evacuated with no casualties reported. The surrounding area remained enveloped in a colossal cloud of smoke.
The fire department swooped in, armed with an extensive team of almost a hundred firefighters, to quell the blaze at this Danish drug manufacturer's office building. After more than three hours of intense extinguishing efforts, Martin Smith, the incident commander, happily reported that the fire was finally under control. He later confirmed the presence of 30 firefighters on-site to snuff out any remaining puffs of fire.
The fire had reportedly started in a container from a Novo Nordisk construction site before sizzling its way to the roof of the connected office building. Ritzau, a leading Danish news agency, revealed that the enormous dark plume could be spotted a whopping 30 kilometers away.
The company asserted that the smoke was non-toxic, and thankfully, the flames had no influence on their pharma production. Remarkably, wildfires took place not long ago at yet another Novo Nordisk facility in Kalundborg while works were being done, yet the ignition had no bearing on the drug production.
Novo Nordisk has been making a name for itself with their drugs, including Ozempic and Wegovy, which have become trendy weight loss injections. These products contain semaglutide as their key ingredient. The Danish economic growth prediction for the country was recently revised by their central bank, with a nearly doubled 2.4% expected growth for this year, previously pegged at 1.3%. The coming year is estimated to see a growth of 1.4%, where it was once a meager 1.3%.
