- A British individual celebrates turning 102 years old by skydiving.
A skydiving birthday present is no longer extraordinary, but for a 102-year-old, it turned out to be quite the thrill - and Manette Baillie didn't hold back. Hailing from Suffolk County in the east of England, this senior citizen became the UK's oldest skydiver by leaping from approximately 2,130 meters with a tandem partner, as reported by the BBC.
"It was a tad scary," the daring lady confessed to the broadcaster after the jump. "I must admit, I had my eyes squinting shut tight." With her high-altitude leap, Baillie aims to encourage other senior citizens. "I just want others getting close to 80 or 90 not to throw in the towel," she said.
A Ferrari spin at 100
Adrenaline wasn't new to Baillie during her golden years. For her 100th birthday, she casually drove a Ferrari around the Formula 1 track at Silverstone, England.
She hasn't the faintest idea where her adventurous spirit originated from, the lively pensioner remarked. "I've been incredibly fortunate to remain fit and healthy, so I've got to make the most of it, that's the real deal," she said. She intends to relish every minute. "Other folks are hindered by arthritis, and I'm not."
Despite her age, Manette Baillie's love for thrilling activities didn't wane even in her later years. She continued to push boundaries, making headlines in The United Kingdom as she became the oldest skydiver, jumping from a remarkable height.
To celebrate her 100th birthday, Baillie showed no signs of slowing down, opting for a Ferrari spin around the famous Formula 1 track at Silverstone, once again proving that courage and adventure know no age in The United Kingdom.
