A 27-year-old person passes away due to speeding on Ku'damm.

They were four sitting in a BMW under Berlin's night sky, when it slammed into a sturdy concrete wall in the heart of the city on Tuesday. Instantly, one woman took her very last breath, while a man connected to the crash later succumbed to his injuries.

A man, 27 years old and recently claiming another casualty from a severe crash along Berlin's Kurfürstendamm died in the hospital this Thursday. Police have not yet finished their investigation on the accident.

The events unfolded when the BMW, with passengers, hit the accelerator on the Kurfürstendamm and continued to Tauentzienstraße. As per preliminary discoveries, the vehicle skidded off the road nearby Marburger Straße, veered sharply to the left, slammed into a concrete barrier on the median strip, spun around 180 degrees, came to a halt and eventually caught fire.

Eyewitnesses rushed to save lives before the fire brigade could take over. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while another person managed to escape, receiving severe injuries. Two others were trapped in the aftermath. A 20-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man are still being treated at the hospital. The identity of the driver was initially left unknown.

BMW, entirely ravaged

The authorities suspect this was a race and the driver might have lost control of the car. Photos from the scene revealed a deeply damaged white BMW that had particularly suffered damage at the front. Emergency responders must have removed several doors.

The Kurfürstendamm, a prestigious street in Berlin's Charlottenburg area, flaunts an array of shopping destinations - and unfortunately, a higher-than-average traffic issue. The avenue is especially frequented by car enthusiasts, notorious for their high-speed racing or overly loud vehicles. Last year, a speed camera was set up there. Until October, unknown individuals detonated the speed camera. Its replacement was also destroyed later, allegedly with fireworks. This past March, the police re-installed a third device at the Lehniner Platz / Ecke Cicerostraße to deter the speedsters.
