Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania - 18-year-old found dead in Pasewalk - police arrest two suspects

An 18-year-old girl has been found dead in Pasewalk in the east of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Due to the serious injuries, investigators are assuming a violent crime, and two suspects have been provisionally arrested. The 20-year-old man and the 19-year-old woman are being investigated for manslaughter, the police and public prosecutor's office announced on Friday. The Neubrandenburg public prosecutor's office is preparing an application for arrest warrants to be issued against the suspects.

The 18-year-old had been missing since Wednesday evening and was found outdoors by police in a garden in Pasewalk (Vorpommern-Greifswald district) on Thursday evening. A search dog from the rescue dog team of the German Red Cross (DRK) Ostvorpommern Greifswald tracked down the dead woman.

The body showed injuries to the upper body that indicate "massive and blunt force trauma", according to the police. The 18-year-old was to undergo an autopsy at Greifswald Forensic Medicine on Friday.

Investigators are keeping a low profile

According to media reports, the woman lived in a nearby residential group for people with disabilities and also had a mental disability herself. Neither the police nor the public prosecutor's office wanted to confirm this. Since the disappearance, investigators had been searching for the 18-year-old in the surrounding area.

The police set up a multi-person investigation team and cordoned off the site where the body was found to secure evidence. The investigating authorities emphasized that further details on individual investigation results were not possible for tactical reasons in view of the age of those involved, all of whom were adolescents, and in view of the investigations that had just been launched.
