In slightly more than six years, - 17 cases of far-right extremism were opened by the BKA against their own staff.

Over the last six years, there have been 17 instances of right-wing extremism connected to the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), as per the German government's response to a query posed by Left-wing MP Martina Renner. This information was made public by the news agency AFP last Saturday. Previously, "Spiegel" had reported on these incidents. Out of these 17 cases, 15 employees have been involved.

Consequences were meted out in 13 of these instances. In three cases, dismissal took place; five civil servants received reprimands, one of which was overruled by the Labor Court. Additionally, disciplinary action was enforced in five instances, which included reducing salaries and imposing fines on the staff members.

BKA: Two right-wing extremism cases are still in progress

Two cases have been dropped, while two other cases are continuing without reaching a conclusion because they are still subject to ongoing criminal proceedings. The information leading to these cases was provided by an ex-employee, as mentioned in the response.

Renner said to "Spiegel," "Although the total of 17 formal cases of right-wing extremism in the Federal Criminal Police Office since 2018 might initially seem small, it should be understood that every case in a central investigative authority is too many."

The politician insists that each instance be handled fairly. She stated, "There should be no leniency for those who make offensive or anti-Semitic comments, and respect should be shown to individuals who report these occurrences."
