Zoo employee in Jerusalem suffers assault by crocodile
At a Jerusalem zoo, a zookeeper got attacked by a croc, giving him some serious injuries. The 45-year-old individual was promptly taken for surgery, as reported by Ein Kerem Hospital.
It's suspected that a safeguard stepped in to save the zookeeper, firing harmless bullets at the croc, which in turn let go of the man. Initially, it wasn't clear if the critter got hurt itself.
Established back in 1939 as a mini-farm for animals, the Jerusalem Zoo made its way from the city heart to its southern part in 1992. It now includes an array of diverse animal species and a massive tank for aquatic creatures.
The safeguing mechanism, weighing heavily on the crocodile, may have been the reason it released the zookeeper. Despite the incident, the heavy revolver used for the safeguard didn't seem to impact the crocodile significantly.
