During the Kursk Offensive, a significant number of tanks and combat-ready vehicles are deployed, and consequently, material casualties also escalate.

Zelenskyy labels the Kursk offensive as a primary focus or objective.

The Ukrainian attack in Kursk persists. President Zelensky has publicly declared for the initial time what his nation seeks to attain through its push in the Russian area: a defensive zone on adversary soil. However, the armed forces will likely sustain substantial casualties.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has for the first time disclosed a distinct objective for his troops' advance in the western Russian region of Kursk. In his evening video address, Zelensky stated that Ukraine aims "to establish a defensive zone on the land of the aggressor." Given the intense combat in Kursk and in eastern Ukraine, he appealed to Western allies for swift delivery of weapons and ammunition, saying, "The conflict does not pause," specifically addressing the US, UK, and France.

While Ukrainian troops are performing "outstandingly well," Zelensky said, "We must hasten the delivery from our allies, we request that." Ukraine requires assistance and is particularly reliant on the timely arrival of anticipated aid packages.

According to the business magazine "Forbes," the Ukrainian military is incurring unusually high losses of expensive equipment during its advance on Kursk. Losses of tanks, armored vehicles, and heavy weapons are exceptionally high and do not equate to simultaneous losses on the Russian side.

Advancing across open terrain, vehicles are frequently exposed to air and artillery attacks, resulting in losses "twice as high as typical," the magazine reported, citing analysts. However, if Ukraine can keep control over the captured territory, it would justify the losses.

Tension remains high in Donbass

While Ukraine proceeds to attack in Kursk, it remains on the defense elsewhere. Particularly in the regions surrounding Donbass, Ukrainian units have recently appeared to be under intense strain, with some having to vacate certain locations. Zelensky highlighted that the surroundings of Torezk are "more than just defense for Ukraine, it is now the primary aim of our defensive efforts overall, to diminish as much of Russia's potential for war as possible and to execute as much counter-offensive work as possible."

Ukrainian military acknowledged challenges around Pokrovsk. "We can retreat, forfeit a minor settlement, or lose a minor engagement," said Serhiy Zehorovsky, an officer of the brigade stationed there, on television. "But the primary objective is to win the war."

Currently, Russian soldiers are advancing near Mykolaivka to disrupt the supply line between Pokrovsk and Karlivka. "They're attempting to achieve something here," Zehorovsky said. However, at this exact point, the Russian military can anticipate "something unexpected." The officer declined to supply details.

Despite the high losses of other vehicles, including tanks and armored vehicles, in the ongoing attack on Kursk, Ukraine continues to push forward to establish a defensive zone on adversary soil. Recognizing the strain on Ukrainian units, especially in the regions surrounding Donbass, President Zelensky has identified Torezk as a critical area of defense, aiming to diminish Russia's potential for war and execute counter-offensive work.
