Zelensky's Strategic blueprint encompasses dialogues with Russia
Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky is looking to engage in talks with Russia to execute his "success strategy." Sharing the details with the public later, he first sought advice from US President Joe Biden. The plan revolves around engaging with Russian officials. Zelensky shared this upcoming move with Ukrainian media before jetting off to the US, where he planned to discuss the strategy first with Biden and then make it public. The strategy consists of three key components that need to be addressed with Russia.
As explained to the Interfax-Ukraine news agency, Zelensky anticipates immediate and tangible progress from their international allies. The execution of the plan relies on these partners. The ultimate goal is to pave the way for a second peace conference, which Russia should be included in, Zelensky mentioned. He further stated that, as far as he's concerned, Moscow isn't keen on peace negotiations and prefers to prolong the conflict. Russia was excluded from the initial summit in Switzerland in June.
The specifics of the "success strategy" have yet to be revealed. Russia has been accusing Zelensky of banning talks with Russia through a decree and now demands the ban's lift. Prior to this, interactions were limited to occasional contact through intermediaries, such as prisoner exchanges.
Zelensky also highlighted that Biden holds significant influence that could fortify Ukraine until his term ends. During the meeting with Biden, Zelensky will once again advocate for the US to supply Ukraine with long-range weapons suitable for strikes deep into Russian territory. "We require long-range weapons," Zelensky insisted. Ukraine has been making a stand against Russian invasion for over two and a half years.
In light of the ongoing "attack on Ukraine," Zelensky's strategy aims to include Russia in a second peace conference. Despite Moscow's apparent unwillingness to negotiate, Zelensky is seeking support from international allies and the US President Joe Biden to facilitate this.
