War in Ukraine - Zelensky hopes for more help during US trip

After his return from the USA, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy promised soldiers and arms factories further assistance. Concrete agreements were made at the NATO summit in Washington to strengthen Ukraine's defense capabilities; it's about weapons for the soldiers and support for Ukraine's arms industries, he said. There will also be more Patriots and dozens of other air defense systems. He did not provide details.

In the past week alone, Russia fired over 700 glide bombs, 170 combat drones of various types, and nearly 80 rockets at Ukraine, according to Ukrainian President Zelenskyy in a post on Portal X. Ukraine is grateful to those who help protect the country from Russian terror through the delivery of defense systems. Once again, Zelenskyy appealed in a video showing destruction of infrastructure and bodies on the street for more air defense systems. "Together we will overcome evil."

Zelenskyy also announced in his video message further bilateral security agreements with the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Ireland, where he made a stopover on his return journey. He had previously signed such agreements with Poland, Luxembourg, and Romania, which are intended to bridge the time until Ukraine's NATO membership.

Zelenskyy: USA want to help on all levels

After numerous meetings with politicians in the USA, including President Joe Biden and several governors, Zelenskyy, according to his own statement, now plans to meet representatives of the regions in Ukraine to strengthen cooperation at the regional level. "Healthcare, protection zones, the defense industry etc. The USA are ready to help on all these levels."

In his video, he also repeated his earlier expressed horror at the attempted assassination of US presidential candidate Donald Trump. "A heinous crime that can only be condemned. And that shows how great the global challenges for democracy are today." He is convinced that the USA will meet these challenges. The country is the largest supporter of Ukraine in its more than two-year long defense against the Russian aggression war.
