Zelensky announces further strengthening of air defense in Ukraine
Following the heavy Russian missile attack on Kiev, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi has announced a further strengthening of the country's air defenses. "Every single system or projectile is vital for Ukraine, for our cities and their people. They save lives," Selensky wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday. He had just spoken to US President Joe Biden about increasing the air defense. The Ukrainian head of state visited Washington on Tuesday and was in Oslo, Norway, on Wednesday.
According to the authorities, 53 people were injured in the night-time attack in the Ukrainian capital. Russia used ten missiles, but all of them were intercepted, according to the military. The injuries and damage were caused by falling missile fragments. "Russia has once again proven that it is a despicable country that fires missiles at night and tries to hit residential areas, kindergartens and the energy supply in the middle of winter," wrote Selenskyj.
