Adolescents between the ages of 10 and 17 invest over an hour of their day engaged in video games, as per a recent study.

Engagements in Play or Amusements - Young males engage in gaming activities for approximately two hours each day.

Girls spend less than a quarter of the time daily on video and computer games compared to boys. As indicated by a 2022 study conducted by the Federal Statistical Office, boys aged 10 to 17 spend approximately 1 hour and 46 minutes each day engaging in gaming activities on computers, smartphones, consoles, or other devices. In contrast, girls from the same age group spend an average of only 26 minutes.

The interest in video and computer games tends to diminish with age, as suggested by the study. Individuals aged 10 to 17 dedicate an average of 1 hour and 7 minutes per day to gaming, while those between 18 and 29 spend approximately 38 minutes. The 30 to 44 age group spends 18 minutes, those between 45 and 64 spend 8 minutes, and those above 64 spend 6 minutes, according to the Federal Statistical Office.

On average, just 19 minutes per day

When considering all age groups, people in Germany spend around 19 minutes a day on video and computer games. These statistics stem from the time-use survey, which is conducted on a voluntary basis every decade or so, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office. Participants track their activities in a time diary or app on three specific days.

Despite the significant difference in gaming time between boys and girls, both genders collectively spend limited time on computer games. In total, people in Germany play computer games for approximately 19 minutes each day. The time spent on gaming decreases significantly with age, as evident from the data presented in the study.
