Xavier Naidoo, a prominent musician, has been indicted for fomenting the crowd.
A 52-year-old musician from Mannheim, identified as Xavier Naidoo, has been charged with hate speech by the Mannheim Public Prosecutor's Office. He is accused of sharing antisemitic and Holocaust-denying content on a Telegram channel in March 2021, as stated by the authority without revealing his name.
In July 2023, Naidoo was indicted for inciting hatred in four separate instances, with one of them also involving an insult. While the Telegram channel was used to publish antisemitic and Holocaust-denying content, the musician is also accused of writing text messages, recording an audio message, and linking to other videos. The accusations cover the period from early December 2020 to the end of April 2021.
These charges stemmed from multiple criminal complaints, and the case is being handled in the Great Criminal Chamber of the Mannheim Regional Court. While Naidoo denies the allegations, the Public Prosecutor's Office emphasized the principle of "innocent until proven guilty."
