A phosphorus bomb discovered at Frankfurt Airport was safely detonated on Friday. The incident was announced via the online platform X in the evening. The bombing led to the temporary shutdown of the A5 highway that passes by the airport.

Reports indicate that the suspicious object was a phosphorus bomb, which were commonly used with white phosphorus during World War II. The potentially hazardous find turned up during ongoing construction work near the new Terminal 3. To ensure public safety, a 1000-meter-radius perimeter was established around the site.

The A5 highway is said to have been reopened by the police.
