Workers reportedly dedicate 17% of their professional hours to working from home, as per Ifo.

As per a survey conducted by Ifo Institute among German businesses, workers spend an average of 17% of their work hours from home. This percentage increases to 20% in large corporations and decreases to 15% in small to medium-sized enterprises. There's a considerable disparity between various sectors.

Homeworking is prevalent in the IT sector (accounting for 58% of working time) and management consulting (around 50%). Conversely, employees in the construction and hospitality sectors spend a mere 2% of their work hours from home, while the manufacturing sector averages 10%. These findings are derived from Ifo's business cycle survey involving approximately 9,000 companies.

Ifo analyst Jean-Victor Alipour pointed out that the homeworking trend has essentially remained the same compared to the previous year. He noted, "Given the discussions surrounding office returns, this might be unexpected. However, this result aligns with other data suggesting that remote work isn't on the decline."

The percentage of work hours spent from home in the IT sector is significantly higher at 58%, while it only amounts to 2% in the construction and hospitality sectors. Despite a stable trend in homeworking compared to the previous year, the percentage of work hours spent from home varies significantly across different sectors.
