Emergencies - Women save girl from drowning in swimming lake
A woman rescued a girl from drowning in a pond in the Ostfriesian community of Uplengen and revived her with the help of other bathers. The woman discovered the seven-year-old girl helpless under the water surface and pulled her out of the water, as the police reported today. Together with two other women, she managed to revive the child. The child was soon responsive again, according to the authorities. Emergency services took the child to a hospital. The child's condition is stable and she is out of danger.
According to the police, the girl had gone to the pond named Großsander in the Leer district alone and unnoticed by her relatives on Tuesday. Relatives of the girl stated that they had arrived at the pond immediately before the incident.
The police thanked the lifesavers in a statement. The woman who pulled the child out of the water was reportedly an employee of the Oldenburg Police Department, who was at the pond during her free time. The other two women who helped revive the child were professionally trained in first aid.
The pond where the incident occurred, named Großsander, is located in the Leer district of Lower Saxony. Despite her employment at the Oldenburg Police Department, the woman was enjoying her leisure time at the pond. The grateful police department expressed their appreciation for the efforts of all the women involved in the emergency situation.
