A 69-year-old Woman died in a house fire in Idar-Oberstein. Four other residents were injured, according to the police. One of them jumped out of a window in the first floor and likely sustained bone fractures. The other three suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning.

The flames also reached a neighboring house, both buildings are no longer habitable. The cause of the fire and the approximate extent of the damage were initially unclear. The SWR had previously reported on this.

According to preliminary investigations, the fire broke out in the morning on the first floor of the house. The deceased woman was found in her apartment. The other residents had saved themselves, one was at work. In the neighboring house, three people lived, they were not injured.

The house fire in Idar-Oberstein originated on the first floor of a residence in Rhineland-Palatinate. After the apartment fire, the affected home and its neighboring property are now deemed uninhabitable. Ms. Police are still investigating the exact cause and extent of the damage.
