Just hours after the discovery of a deceased woman in Vienna, her husband was arrested at Berlin's airport. As reported by the Vienna police on Friday, the 31-year-old Afghan man was apprehended by Berlin authorities the previous evening.

The man is considered the primary suspect, according to Austrian police. His 29-year-old wife was found lifeless in their shared apartment in the Austrian capital. Concerned relatives of the woman, who also hailed from Afghanistan, had previously contacted the police and reported a dispute.

International manhunt

An international manhunt was launched following the discovery of the body. It appears the suspect intended to continue his journey from Berlin, according to a Vienna police spokesperson for the German Press Agency. His travel was halted during a routine check at Berlin Brandenburg Airport. The Vienna Public Prosecutor's Office has already requested his extradition.

According to the autopsy results, the woman was killed by stab wounds to the chest and neck. The murder weapon has not yet been found, police said. Investigators believe it could have been a knife or another sharp object. The motive of the suspected perpetrator remains unclear. The man was previously unknown to the police.

The husband's arrest at Berlin's airport sparked concern among women in the victim's community. Despite being a primary suspect, the motive behind the woman's death remains unexplained by the suspect, who had no prior police record.
